THE CHRISTIAN SCRIPTURES
The First Edition of the New Testament was completed on July 22, 2010;
the First Edition of the Old Testament was completed on April 8, 2015.
The 2024 Edition (tcs.pdf) and its underlying Greek text (tcs_gk.pdf) is linked below,
along with the English Versions Format (tcs_evf.pdf), in which the text of the 2024 Edition
is presented according to the versification of the common translations.
To the best of my knowledge, this is the very first modern English translation of the entire Greek Bible.
Two other English versions of the Old Testament according to the Septuagint are widely available
(Lancelot C. L. Brenton, 1851, and the NETS of Albert Pietersma and Benjamin G. Wright, 2007),
but both employ "literal" Greek spellings of proper names which are incompatible with other versions,
and contain too many translation idiosyncrasies for actual use in liturgies and Bible studies.
In one of the last verses I translated, 2 Maccabees 15:38,
the author of that work offered his personal assessment of its merits:
"If it is well devised in its composition, this is what I myself wanted,
but if shabby and mediocre, this is what was attainable for me."
This applies equally to my effort. It has already served my congregation well for many years
in helping to correct the false impressions of Christianity created by the common versions,
and it is my sincere hope that it will be of similar benefit to others in "the age to come."
